The targeted mystery shop - Pt. 1
A targeted shop is one where you are required to reach a specific consultant and complete your shop with them. They can go easy, or they can be a major pain. Call the apartment community. If your target answers whoop for joy because this will save you time. The good news is that targeted shops usually pay just a smidge higher due to the difficulty in reaching one specific person. What do you do if your target doesn’t answer the phone? Say sorry wrong number; say anything to get that person off of the phone. Make sure you have a few good excuses lined up as if you keep using the same one it may compromise your mystery shopping identity. If I am apartment shopping I usually say that I have something that I know is against the community’s rules like a pit bull.
You may have to get really creative here if your target never answers the phone. You are usually required to make at least three attempts to get them on the phone by subterfuge before resorting to more drastic measures. Three attempts means three different times on three different days. I know of one mystery shopper who would make the call and if the wrong person answered the phone she would hand it off to a friend. The friend would keep the non-target busy while the shopper redialed on another line. This is just way to complicated for me.
