Sunday’s Shop Log Vol. 5

So where was the mystery shopper this week? All over and then some - the first two weeks of the month are generally the busiest time for the mystery shopper. Mystery shops for the next month start being posted around the end of the prior month. Some companies don’t post the monthly assignments until the first week of the month. Trust me - after you shop for a few months with a company you’ll know which is which and when they post their jobs.

Highlights - The best assignments this week were definitely the car wash and the audits. I love audit jobs - I don’t have to worry about remaining anonymous and can openly take my questionnaire and clipboard with me into the location. The pay is usually on the higher side for a mystery shop as well. Of course once you complete an open audit at a location you are barred from mystery shopping that location for 6 months to a year, but that doesn’t say anything about the next round of audits does it? ;)

Lowlights - The gym shop - a lengthy narrative and a long visit with lots of required observations. Actually I can’t complain too much about it - once I accepted the gym shop the scheduler contacted me to see if I wanted to do another shop at the same location! I said ‘hell yeah as long as they can be done consecutively!’. They can and I got two shops for the price of one.

I usually don’t have too many shops ending up on the ‘lowlight’ list as I try not to take any mystery shopping assignments where I know I’m going to be completely miserable. Coming up for the next week I have a series of ‘white glove’ inspection shops as well as a series of shops that are technically mystery shops as I enter the store as a regular customer, but after I make my purchase I get to reveal myself and either reward the associate for jumping through the hoop of the week or sadly state that they missed the boat on this one.
